How to Add Multiple Email Accounts in Thexyz Webmail

Thexyz Webmail E-mail Account dialog: Properties tab filled with example Name Jane Example and jane@example.com

Thexyz Webmail (Group-Office at mail.thexyz.com) can connect more than one mailbox in the same browser session. That means another domain on Thexyz, a Gmail address, or any other provider that gives you IMAP and SMTP settings. Once the account is saved, you send from it with the Compose From picker and receive its mail in its own folders. This guide shows the Accounts dialog, the Add form, and the Properties and Server fields as they appear in Thexyz Webmail.

Quick answer

In Thexyz Webmail, open E-mail, click the more menu (…), then Accounts. Click the plus (add) button. On Properties, fill in Name and E-mail. On Server, enter the other mailbox’s IMAP and SMTP host, port, encryption, username, and password. Click Ok to save. The new address should then appear in the Accounts list and in Compose’s From picker so you can send and receive from it.

Aliases are not the same as another mailbox

An alias is an extra From address on an account you already have. Adding a second account connects a separate mailbox with its own IMAP/SMTP login, folders, and incoming mail. For aliases and the related iOS profile steps, see Thexyz Webmail: email accounts, aliases, and iOS profile.

Before you start

  • Have the other mailbox’s full email address and password ready.
  • Look up that provider’s official IMAP and SMTP hostnames, ports, and encryption. For example, Gmail documents imap.gmail.com port 993 with SSL and smtp.gmail.com port 587 with STARTTLS. Use the values your provider publishes; do not guess.
  • Your Thexyz mailbox must allow adding extra accounts. If the plus button is greyed out, see Troubleshooting below (try signing out and back in first).

The screenshots in this guide use illustrative placeholders (Jane Example, jane@example.com, imap.example.com, smtp.example.com). Replace them with real values for the mailbox you are adding. The example account was not saved.

Step 1: Open Accounts

  1. Sign in to Thexyz Webmail and open the E-mail module.
  2. In the message-list toolbar, click the more menu (…).
  3. Choose Accounts.

The Accounts window lists the mailboxes already connected. Columns include E-mail, Username, Owner, Host, and SMTP. The footer shows how many accounts are listed (for example, Displaying items 1 - 1 of 1 when only the primary mailbox is present).

Each row has a menu with Edit. Delete may be disabled on the primary account.

Step 2: Click Add

  1. In the Accounts toolbar, click the plus icon. Its accessible label is add.

That opens an E-mail Account dialog with tabs Properties, Server, Filters, and Permissions. The footer shows Aliases, Folders, Apply, and Ok.

If you leave Name empty, the form shows This field is required in red. On a brand-new unsaved account, Filters, Permissions, and Aliases stay disabled until the account is saved.

Step 3: Fill in Properties

  1. Stay on the Properties tab.
  2. Enter the display Name people should see (required).
  3. Enter the other mailbox’s E-mail address.
  4. Optionally type a Signature, choose a default e-mail template, and set Undo send (for example, 5 seconds).
  5. Under Folders, map Sent items, Trash, Drafts, and Spam if the defaults need changing.
  6. Review the Extra options checkboxes if you need them (store replies with the original, do not auto-mark as read, show full reply headers, place signature at the end on reply/forward).

The filled example above used Name Jane Example, E-mail jane@example.com, and signature Sent from Thexyz Webmail for documentation only. Use your real display name and address.

The footer Folders control opens a Folders window. Before the account is saved and connected, you may only see Root.

Step 4: Enter Server (IMAP and SMTP)

  1. Open the Server tab.
  2. Under incoming mail (IMAP), enter the provider’s IMAP host, port, username, password, and encryption (for example SSL on port 993).
  3. Under outgoing mail (SMTP), enter the SMTP host, port, and encryption (for example STARTTLS on port 587). Leave Use IMAP credentials checked if the outgoing login matches IMAP.
  4. Leave “Allow self signed certificate” unchecked unless your provider requires it.

In the documentation screenshot, IMAP was imap.example.com port 993 SSL with username jane@example.com, and SMTP was smtp.example.com port 587 STARTTLS with Use IMAP credentials checked. The password field was left blank in the screenshot; enter the other mailbox’s real password when you add a live account. Replace every example.com value with your provider’s official settings.

Step 5: Filters, Permissions, and Aliases

On a new account that has not been saved yet, the Filters and Permissions tabs are greyed out, and the footer Aliases control is disabled.

After you click Ok and the account is saved, open the account again with Edit to configure Filters, Permissions, and Aliases. Aliases on that account are still not the same as adding yet another mailbox.

Step 6: Save, then send and receive

  1. Click Ok (or Apply then Ok) to save the account. Do not close with the window X if you intend to keep the new account; closing without Ok leaves the Accounts list unchanged.
  2. Confirm the new row appears in the Accounts list.
  3. Open Compose and open the From picker. The new address should be listed so you can send from it.
  4. Incoming mail for that account arrives in its folders in the left tree once IMAP connects successfully.

Until you save, Compose From still only lists the addresses you already had. The screenshot below shows a mailbox with a single From identity before a second account is saved:

If you fill the form for practice and close without Ok, the Accounts list stays at one account:

This guide did not click Apply or Ok on the example account, so it does not include screenshots of sending or receiving from a second live mailbox. After you save a real second account, use Compose From and that account’s Inbox to confirm both directions work.

Troubleshooting

  • Add is greyed out: the plus button’s wrapper can show as disabled (x-item-disabled in the page), and a normal click will not open the form. Sign out with Logout, sign back in to Thexyz Webmail, and open Accounts again. In testing, Add stayed disabled until a fresh sign-in; after that, Add was enabled. If it is still disabled, your mailbox may not have permission to add extra accounts—ask whoever administers your Thexyz account.
  • Name is required: the Properties tab will not accept an empty Name; fill it before Ok.
  • Cannot open Filters, Permissions, or Aliases: those stay disabled until the account is saved. Save with Ok, then Edit the account.
  • Only one address in From: the new identity appears in Compose after the account is saved successfully. Closing the dialog with X does not add it.
  • Confused with aliases: aliases are extra From addresses on an existing account. To connect a separate inbox, use Add in Accounts, not Aliases. See the aliases and iOS profile guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add Gmail or another provider inside Thexyz Webmail?

Yes, if your Thexyz mailbox allows Add, and you enter that provider’s real IMAP and SMTP settings plus the mailbox password (or an app password if the provider requires one).

Where do I open the Accounts list?

In the E-mail module, open the more menu (…) and choose Accounts.

Why are Filters and Permissions greyed out?

On a new unsaved E-mail Account dialog they stay disabled. Save the account with Ok first, then Edit it.

Will the new address show in Compose From?

After a successful save, yes. Until then, From only lists the identities you already had.
