How to search your email in OX App Suite

Looking for an old message? The OX App Suite Mail app has a Search email field at the top of the screen, plus a set of advanced options that let you narrow a search by sender, recipient, subject, words in the message, attachment name and date. This guide shows where each option is and how to use them together.

Quick answer

In OX App Suite Mail, click the Search email field at the top of the screen. For more options, click the small arrow at the right end of the field, fill in From, To, Subject, Contains words or the After and Before dates, then click Search.

Step 2: Choose your advanced search options

The advanced panel opens under the search field. Fill in only the boxes you need; leave the rest empty.

  1. Check Search in. In our test it was set to Current folder, so only the folder you have open is searched.
  2. Use From and To to find mail from or to a person, Subject for words in the subject line, and Contains words for words in the message itself.
  3. Pick a Categories value or type an Attachment name if you remember the file you were sent.
  4. Limit the date range with After and Before. Dates use the MM/DD/YYYY format.
  5. Tick Has attachments or Has color flag to show only messages with files or a colour flag.

  2. Click Search.

Our test mailbox had no matching messages, so we haven’t shown a results list here. If nothing comes back for you either, see the tips below.

Search works the same in other apps

The same field sits in the top bar of every OX App Suite app, and its label changes to match: Search contacts in the Address Book, Search appointments in Calendar, Search tasks in Tasks and Search files in Drive. Open the app first, then search.

Tips and troubleshooting

  • Nothing found? Check Search in. If it says Current folder, mail you filed elsewhere won’t be searched, so open that folder and search again.
  • Too many results? Combine fields. For example, fill in From and an After date to see only recent mail from one person.
  • Looking for a file? Tick Has attachments, or type part of the file name in Attachment name.
  • Keep mail easy to find. Filing messages into your own folders or sorting them automatically with mail filter rules makes later searches quicker.
